Can you get any more American or any more classic than a grilled cheese? It’s my favorite go to sandwich when I want something quick, easy and cheesy.

My parents have recently gotten a panini maker- which if you don’t have one get one STAT- and it is an amazing thing for sandwich lovers. Last week, being the 4th of July, we were feeling both hungry and American and we put a twist on the classic cheese sandwich.

Fresh avocado, a ripe tomato, yellow American and we were ready to go. Toast and melt in the panini maker and you have the perfect lunch.

The avocado gave an even creamier taste to the warm, cheesy sandwich and the tomato was a fresh burst of flavor. Season with a taste of salt and pepper before it grills and you have an extremely simple yet overwhelmingly good sandwich.
